MacKillop Cricket Trials
Congratulations to Xavier E (Year 4) who travelled to Canberra on Tuesday to compete at the CECG Diocese Cricket selections. The Diocese selections held this week are in advance of the 2025 school sport pathways as the new year always brings an influx of sporting opportunities. Cricket trials are always very popular amongst students in our diocese and to gain a position in the Canberra Goulburn team is a huge achievement. Xav has played competitive summer cricket for many years now and it is wonderful to see his years of commitment pay off for CG team selection. Xavier will travel to Wagga next Monday and Tuesday to play against other teams from Parramatta, Wagga, Sydney and Wollongong Diocese for a spot in the MacKillop Cricket team. We wish Xavier all the very best of luck for his trip to Wagga next week. I look forward to sharing Xave’s results in the coming newsletter.

Canberra Goulburn Tennis Trials
We wish all the best to Thomas D (Year 4) and Declan T (Year 5), who are travelling to Canberra next Thursday to compete for a place in the Canberra Goulburn Tennis team. Declan has experienced lots of success on the tennis courts over the past few years and this is Tommy’s first experience of individual sport pathways. We know they both will play well next week and be great ambassadors for our school. I will share the boys' results in the next newsletter.

We also wish the best of luck to Jake F (Year 4) who is travelling to Canberra next week to trial for the Canberra Goulburn Basketball team. Jake loves playing basketball and we know he will show off his excellent skills at the trials. I look forward to sharing Jake’s result in the next newsletter.

Canberra Goulburn Sports Trials for 2025: Basketball, Cricket and Tennis
In term 4, students in Years 4 and 5 this year (2024) may be eligible to trial for the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocesan 2025 Individual sports trials in Cricket, Tennis and Basketball. These three sports are the only sports that are trialled in the year prior to the next school year. This is because the MacKillop selections are quiet early in the new year. If your child plays any of these sports (Cricket, Tennis and Basketball) competitively and with a high level of skill, they are eligible to nominate for the trials. (Please note: Touch football trials are usually held later in term 4 each year to prepare for the year ahead, however, this has changed this year and trials for touch football will be held early in 2025).

If your child is interested in nominating for these events, please go to the CSNSW Sport website for more information and registration details.

If you require any further information or have any questions regarding individual sports trials, please be in touch with me at:  megan.grant@cg.catholic.edu.au

All other sports nominations and trails for next year will be communicated to year 5 and 6 families in the new year.

Swimming Program
It has been wonderful to see the improved confidence and skills in the water of our students each week as we move into the third week of our swimming program. All of the students have a fantastic time practising and refining their swimming skills, while learning about being safe in and around the water. We are very lucky to have dedicated and skilled staff members, Jessie White, Carla Durnan and Brooke Connaughton and the highly experienced Mrs Lorraine Borger assisting each week to help improve the ability and safety of our children with summer right around the corner. Just a reminder that there will be no swimming session next Friday, 29 November as Year 6 students will be attending high school orientation day. The final swim session will be the following Friday, 6 December.
