Christ the King Mass
On Sunday 24 November at 10am our Parish is celebrating Mass for the Feast Day of Christ the King. This mass celebrates the end of the Liturgical year as we lead into Advent and the Christmas season. The Parish welcomes families to come along and join in the celebration on Sunday. Father George has asked children who are coming to wear a crown to signify the importance of this feast day and the ‘King’ of the Church and his ascension into heaven. Students have been given a paper crown to decorate and wear to this special celebration on Sunday.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Each year, St Mary’s students collect non-perishable food items or new toys/ games for the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. The relentless cost-of-living crisis is forcing many families to have to make unimaginable choices - whether to keep the lights on or put food on the table. Collecting some extra things in our shopping trolley, will provide vulnerable families the urgent relief they desperately need this Christmas. Each classroom has a basket to be filled with donated items. The baskets will be presented to St Vincent de Paul at our Christmas Assembly on Monday 16 December at 2pm.
Date Claimer - Parish Christmas BBQ
On Friday 13 December, our Sacred Heart Parish is hosting a special Christmas BBQ in the Church grounds at 5.30pm. Families are warmly welcomed to come along for this and join for dinner and some fun activities for children.
Christian Meditation at St Mary’s
Every morning, all students at our school participate in Christian meditation. We typically use the mantra "Maranatha"- this ancient Christian prayer word means Come, Lord Jesus. Pictured here are students in Year 2 beginning their day silently, gently and faithfully.
‘With Hearts of Gratitude - Remembrance Day
Last week, we gathered to remember all those who died in World War 1 and those who have died in wars and conflicts since then, as well as thank them in our hearts for all they sacrificed. Our Remembrance Day liturgy was led by Year 6 with exceptional maturity and reverence. In places in our world today there is still conflict, and we pray that we will value the freedoms that we enjoy today and commit ourselves to creating peace in our world.
A Snapshot from the RE Classroom
In Religion in Year 2, students are currently learning all about the parish, the role of the parish priest and the ministry of the parish. This week they were lucky enough to have a visit from Mrs Croese and Jan Morris to speak to the children about their roles within the parish and how they assist Fr George with masses. Jan shared with the children how she had been assisting since she was a young child and has been supporting within the Sacred Heart Parish for over 22 years. She showed the children some special items such as the chalice and how this is used to hold the Eucharist. Jan explained how water is added to the wine to symbolise Jesus being human. Mrs Croese shared about her love of music and how she and the choir enjoy sharing the music at mass. We all learned a lot and we thank Mrs Croese and Jan for their visit.

A Prayer for World Peace
O God of the nations,
as we look to that day when you will gather people
from north and south, east and west,
into the unity of your peaceable Kingdom,
guide with your just and gentle wisdom all who take counsel
for the nations of the world,
that all your people may spend their days in security, freedom, and peace,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
