First Eucharist Commitment Mass
Last weekend we welcomed Vicar General Fr Richard Thompson to our Sacred Heart Parish whilst Father George is away. The students who are making their First Eucharist prepared and read a commitment prayer with their families to show their readiness for the next step in making their First Eucharist. Fr Richard welcomed Nicholas A, Willa McL, Beau McD, Matilda P, Ethan T, and Aria T up to the altar and explained the aspects of the Eucharist and his role as Parish Priest. It was a very special occasion having him explaining each aspect with the group as they prepare for this journey ahead. We would like to encourage families to join us to celebrate these children’s First Eucharist on Sunday 15 September at 10am.
Faith Formation Retreat Day
On Wednesday 28 August Year 4 travelled to Carroll College to participate in a range of activities run by their Youth Ministry Programe to deepen their understanding about our Faith. Students enjoyed working with students from both St Bernard’s Batehaven and Carroll College Broulee which strengthen their friendships as part of our K-12 pathway on the South Coast.

Collaborations of Religious Education
This semester Jess Afflick, Fran Devonald and Carla Durnan are working as members of the writing team for the production of new Religious Education units of work for all schools to use across the Archdiocese. It is a great opportunity for our staff members to engage in rich discussion and develop rigorous engaging lessons across K-6. These units will help us to continue to develop our rich links with our Parish and help students to develop their knowledge about Catholic faith and the works of the church community.

Project Compassion
Each year as a school community we support Caritas and Project Compassion in their mission, as they work hand in hand with the most marginalised communities in Australia and overseas, to confront the challenges of poverty. This year Project Compassion has raised an incredible $9.7 million, empowering vulnerable communities worldwide such as Gaza, Sudan and Nepal to create a better future.
Fathers Day Liturgy
Today we had our Year 2 students lead us in prayer to thank us for the great male role models in their lives. Their reflection was poignant as they shared thanks for the many roles that so many men have over our lifetime. We know as adults we can all reflect back upon many moments that our dads, grandads, uncles and male family friends have helped guide us along our life journey. Year 2 has put together a thank you reflection song and you can see throughout the video the love and care in the eyes of every child with these important men in their lives. Here is their video reflection: 2024 Fathers Day video Y2

Grace and blessings on your journey.
