Sacrament of First Eucharist
This Saturday we have Nicholas A, Beau M, Willa M, Matilda P, Aria T, and Ethan T starting their Sacramental journey at our parish Mass on Saturday at 5pm. These children and their families will join together in prayer and commit to taking the next step as Catholics. Let us keep them in our prayers as they start this process.
All of Year 4 are learning more about the Sacrament of First Eucharist and will participate in a Faith Formation Day run by Carroll College staff and Year 10 students on Wednesday 28 August. It provides students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of faith in their lives, build further relationships. More information about this has been sent out to families.
Assumption Mass
We came together as a school and Parish community on Thursday to celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We welcomed Fr Loi to celebrate with us. Fr Loi explained as part of his Homily the importance of our mum in our own lives, and how important Mary was a mum to Jesus. The Assumption commemorates the belief that when Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, died, her body was "assumed" into heaven to be reunited with her soul. Thank you to Mrs Devonald and Mr Campbell and our beautiful stage 2 guitar group for leading us with prayer through song, as well as our readers, offertory and altar servers. Fr Loi was very impressed with our students' knowledge of Mass responses and reverence during Mass.
Book Donation for Samoan School
Felicity and Matilda Price had the privilege of visiting Vaiala Beach School in Samoa in recent weeks. Donating more books on behalf of St Mary's. The school was so grateful and truly appreciated the donation with a special mention in their newsletter recognizing the generosity of St Marys in Moruya, Australia. They told us that each book donated will have a special note placed inside the front cover to acknowledge where it has come from so that when the children read them they will know it has been specially donated to them from other students in Australia.
Prayers
We pray this week for Mrs Megan Grant and her family for the loss of her father John Kay. A huge loss for their family losing both her mum and dad 6 months apart. Let us keep them all in our prayers this week.
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of birdsong.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall,
You do not walk alone.
Amen
Grace and blessings on your journey,
Jess Afflick & Carla Durnan
