Cross Country
Late last term, in what can only be described as miserable conditions, students from years 2-6 participated in our school Cross Country at Gundary oval. We were hopeful that the rain would hold off, but unfortunately, this was not to be and many of the races were held in the rain. This didn’t seem to phase the students too much and most somewhat enjoyed running in the rain and cold temperatures. From this, a team of students was selected to compete at the Southern Region Cross Country at Wolumla last Thursday, 2 May. We congratulate the students on this achievement. Many of our students have now progressed onto the Archdiocesan Cross Country at Stromlo in Canberra on Friday 17 May. We are awaiting the final list of students attending the Archdiocesan Cross Country and will publish the names and team photo in the coming newsletter. We wish all of our competitors the very best of luck and congratulate them all on achieving this level of competition. We thank Mr Paul Hill for giving up many lunchtimes to train the students in readiness for the recent running events.

Kindergarten and Year 1 Cross Country
In much nicer weather, the students in Kindergarten and Year 1 showed off their running skills. Supported by some Year 6 buddies, the students ran their tricky course on the oval under sunny skies. It was wonderful to see so many mums and dads helping our 2-6 students cheer on our littlest students, who were all very proud of themselves.

K-2 AFL Skills Day
On the last Friday of Term 1, the students in K-2 participated in an AFL skill morning with John Dyball from South Coast AFL. Again, Year 6 students stepped up to lead some of the rotations on the school oval and everyone had a wonderful time learning new skills such as passing, kicking, parachute games and tackle bag drills. What a fun way to end such a busy term!
Canberra Goulburn Soccer Trials
Late last term Cooper C and Ky N travelled to Canberra to trial for the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocesan Soccer team. It was certainly testing conditions, with heavy rain, cold winds and a muddy field. Both Cooper (who was battling an injury) and Ky made it into the possible/probable teams and played one final game before the final selections were made. Congratulations to Ky for being selected in the final team to play in Goulburn at the end of May. We hope the weather will be much kinder at the next level.
