Canberra Goulburn Touch Football Trials
Last Friday, Leo and Spencer S in Year 5 travelled to Canberra to participate at the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese Touch Football Trials. Many students from across the Diocese, including Young, Cootamundra, West Wyalong and Gundagai convened in Lyneham to showcase their football skills in hope of gaining selection into the Canberra Goulburn team. Leo and Spencer were great sports and enjoyed representing St Mary’s. They both had a great day and met many new friends who all share in the love of all things football.

Leo S: ‘It was very fast. The game and all the kids there were speedy but I went there to give it a crack. It doesn’t matter if I didn’t make it, I didn’t but I gave it a go and did my best. It was good to hang out with the other kids and make some new friends. I had fun.’

Spencer S: ‘At the touch trials, the game was so quick. I enjoyed it and I think everyone had a good time.It didn’t matter if you made the team or not, I didn’t make it in the team but I still had fun.’

Archdiocesan Tennis Trials
This week, Declan T was meant to be travelling to Belconnen in Canberra to trial for the Canberra Goulburn Tennis Team. Unfortunately, the trials were postponed due to the poor weather conditions this week. We are awaiting a new date to be advised, hopefully before the end of term. We wish Declan all the very best of luck at the trial and know he will be a wonderful ambassador for our school.

Swimming Program
Unfortunately, the swimming session for this week was washed out. We will have our final swimming session next Wednesday and hope the weather is much kinder to us than this week. The students have all had a huge improvement in water confidence and skills in readiness for swimming season. A special thanks to Lorraine Borger who has been volunteering her time each week to assist also. Her swimming knowledge and expertise has been invaluable.

Have a wonderful week ahead.
