Staff Professional Learning
Each week our staff participate in Professional Learning activities to continuously update their knowledge and skill set for teaching our students.
On the first day of Term 1, our staff participated in a Spirituality Formation Day on the theme of the Holy Spirit, led by Luke Maher from the Catholic Identity Team at CE. Luke led the staff through an exploration of the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout the Old and New Testament. This was a great opportunity for staff to reflect and develop their understanding of ‘The Year of the Holy Spirit’ as we move into 2024 ready to create a spirit of growth in our community.
This week all our staff completed their annual CPR training and a number of staff also renewed their First Aid certificates.
On Monday, we will welcome back Jordan O’Sullivan from Shaping Minds who will be working with our staff on increasing their knowledge of high impact teaching practices with a focus on strategies teachers use to deliver direct instruction programs. Our staff enjoy working with Jordan and benefit from the positive and constructive feedback he gives us on the delivery of explicit lessons in English and Maths and our implementation of programs such as Spelling Mastery.
Next week we will also begin our Classroom Mastery training with leading classroom management expert Dr Tim McDonald. We are looking forward to working with the staff from our K-12 Pathway as together we develop a common approach to classroom management and student wellbeing.
God bless and take care
