Sports News
I hope everyone has been well during the lockdown period. The sudden nature of the stay at home orders last term certainly put a stop to all things sport - both community based and in terms of school pathways.
While we haven’t yet had the chance to present the ribbons and age champion medals to the St Mary’s students, I was able to send off our results to be compared against the Southern Region and the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocese. We had some very hard working SR and CE Sport managers who collated the results and we have several students who have been awarded a ‘Certificate of Merit’ on the Canberra Goulburn Athletics team. Sherree Bush from CE Sport conducted a ‘virtual athletics carnival’ and compared the athletic results from all CG regions to award the students Athletic Merit certificates. I thank Sherree for all her hard work in getting this compiled for our students across the Diocese. It certainly was a massive job and by doing this, she has acknowledged the athletic achievements of all students across the diocese.
Ribbons and certificates of merit have been sent to the school and I look forward to presenting these to the students on their return to school in the coming weeks. Keep an eye in the upcoming newsletters for photos of the students with their certificates.
Congratulations to the following students who deserve special recognition for their efforts in Athletics for 2021 ( i.e: these students would have been successful in gaining entry to the MacKillop Trials Athletics in Sydney).

Congratulations again to all our students who were awarded these certificates.
I am looking forward to all our CG Sports pathway events as well as Inter School Gala Days being slowly reintroduced when it is safe to do so - hopefully 2022 will be a kinder year to our sporting students.
I will share any sporting updates with the St Marys Community as they come to hand.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, stay safe and well.
Warm regards,
Megan Grant
