St Mary's Athletics Carnival
Last week, we held our first full Athletics carnival in two years. It was so great to see our students trying their best in the track and field events. The students in K-2 had a wonderful time taking part in novelty events during the morning before taking to the track for their 100m races. With lots of determined faces, the infant students all ran super fast to get to the finish line with lots of cheering from their buddies on the sidelines. Unfortunately the rain couldn't hold off and we didn’t get through the boys 200m races and some of the girls discus and shotput. These events as well as long jump and high jump will be finalised by early next term. The students eligible for attending the Southern Region will be notified early in Term 3. Take a look at the photos on the St Mary’s Facebook page from the day. Our House captains were brilliant leaders and showed their sports team how to be great supporters. We thank the Carroll College sports coaching students for their help with running events on the day and the wet and soggy pack up when the rain hit. A very special mention and thanks to parents, Tim W for his incredible line marking skills, and Cody S for assisting with the wet pack up. Also to our parent helpers, Tarna S and Julie D for helping with timekeeping. We are very grateful. It is always a big day to set up an athletics carnival event and I personally thank the St Mary’s staff for the early start to the day and for always being a helping hand on special days like this. ( Please note: Southern Region Athletics Carnival is set for Wednesday 3 August at Bega).

MacKillop Rugby Union
Congratulations to Kordel H and Asher B who were part of the Canberra Goulburn Archdiocesan Rugby team playing at Forbes on Monday at MacKillop trials. The CG team played against teams from Sydney, Parramatta, Wagga and Wollongong and played extremely well together as a team.
Thank you to our parent community for supporting our students at carnivals, gala days and trial events. It is certainly a commitment by everyone to travel and attend events away from home and I thank you for helping to provide these many and varied opportunities to the children.
It has been a very busy sporting term and it is great to see our children returning to the courts and fields doing the things they love. We look forward to all things sport continuing in Term 3.
I wish everyone a happy, safe and restful break.
